Viewing maps in full screen
All maps have a link above them to view them full screen in a new tab.
Navigating around the map
Use the zoom in and out buttons to zoom in and out of the map.
Click and drag on the map to pan around the map.
Click on the search button to search for a location on the map.
Once you’ve typed in your location of interest, click on the address text to navigate to this location on the map.
Layer list
All layers on the map are presented in the layer list.
Clicking on/off the tick box next to a layer name makes the layer visible/not visible on the map.
Clicking on the legend button next to the layer name shows what symbol is used for that layer on the map.
Clicking on the … options button next to the layer name provides additional buttons allowing you to increase or decrease the transparency of that layer on the map.
Scroll down the layer list to see more layers available on the map.
Change basemap
Click on the Change basemap button to view different basemap options.
Click on a basemap option to view this on the map.
Data and copyright information
Click on the Copyright information button to view data and copyright information.
Click on the links to each data layer to find out more about the data in a new tab.
Selected NCA
Some NCA-level maps show the selected NCA. This will glow blue when you first view the map to help you locate it. Clicking anywhere on the map will remove this blue glow.
Selecting layers on the map
Clicking on the map allows you to select features on the map and view more information about them.
Features glow blue on the map whilst selected.
For some layers, pop-ups on the map also appear when a feature is selected. Additional information is available within these pop-ups. Some pop-ups include hyperlinks to click on. Click on these hyperlinks to open them in a new tab.
Where multiple features overlap, multiple popups will appear. Click on the arrows on the popup to swap which feature is selected.
Or click on the select feature button to change which feature is selected from a list.
Click the dock button to dock the pop-up window to the top of the map.
Click undock to undock the pop-up window.
Click collapse to hide the additional information in the pop-up window.
Click expand to view the additional information in the pop-up window.
Click the zoom to button to zoom to the selected feature on the map.
Using the maps on different devices
The interactive map layout will automatically change to suit the size of the screen it is opened on. View the interactive maps in a new tab on a computer screen for the best experience.
